You won't hear many people say this, and you won't hear me saying that Gore is right very often, but this time, he's right. The altitude definitely affected Obama's performance, particularly because he is a smoker. There was already enough pressure debating Mitt Romney in front of 67 million+ people on his 20th wedding anniversary, without depriving his brain of oxygen from the thin air. But it was his mistake to fly into Denver on the same day as the debate, so he shouldn't be blaming John Kerry- it's his own fault- flying into Denver a few days early is part of the debate preparation that he should have been doing. Romney arrived earlier in the week, so he had time to adjust. Not many people can debate well while they're asphyxiating. Ask any sports team that has flown into Denver to compete- there is a big difference- not only in your ability to physically perform, but also to mentally process information.
